The Use of Formula (Attractant) in Shrimp Farming

In the past, shrimp farming, particularly vannamei shrimp, is easy and has good survival rate.  Shrimp grows well periodically and generates good productivity and profit with less problem of diseases.

Currently, the problem of vannamei shrimp farming is significantly increasing.  Farmers generally have more expertises in shrimp farming.  Although they have healthy post lavae shrimp, with fluctuated natural environment, there still be some damages from some diseases especially viruses.  This problem still has no solution, but there is only way of preventing disease from virus to avoid any other damages.  

It is always found that there are some loss in the first month of farming due to post lavae shrimp gradually died in one month.  It is assumed that shrimp is too weak or is unadjustable to water condition in the pond.  If shrimp continuously died in 30-45 days, it is assumed that shrimp is healthy enough in the first period but is later weaken due to an inappropriate environment or is attacked by bacteria and viruses.  Then shrimp stops growth and died finally.  Therefore, in the first month of shrimp farming, there is no need to apply any special supplement to shrimp.  Shrimp needs only feed to grow usually or applying some antibiotics occasionally.  However it is currently prohibited to apply antibiotics to shrimp feed which may cause residue in shrimp.

Since the antibiotics are not allowed to use in shrimp farming to prevent diseases for shrimp.  To maintain shrimp strength and good health,  Formula (Attractant) is started to have significant role to strengthen shrimp, help shrimp generate better tissue and shell.  Based on the experiment of shrimp farming, the farming that applys Formula (Attractant) mixed with shrimp feed at the beginning (using Formula 25 cc. / 1 kg. of shrimp feed) and applys continuously results that shrimp is much stronger, well flipped, has hard shell and perfect molting includings with clear body and strong muscle.  When continuously apply Formula (Attractant) until the age of 60 days farming, the Taura Syndrome is not found in shrimp.  After molting, shrimp body is not soft or looked like jelly.  Shrimp has thin shell, looked like thin plastic sheet wrapped its body and this thin shell is slightly developed to hard shell.

Prevention is better than correction.  Using Formula (Attractant) (chitosan collagen amino complex) mixed with shrimp feed at the beginning age to prevent shrimp from disease infection at young age.  Also the amount of  Formula (Attractant) at post lavae of shrimp is little and it is worth enough for budget control to reduce risk of shrimp dead during first 30-45 days of farming.

Shrimp that is ready to be harvested but still not perfect enough.  Formula (Attractant) will play a major role for shrimp that has complete molting but generate shell slowly to enhance tissue and shell quickly.  Although the amount of calcium, magnesium and carbonate in water are high, it is assumed that shrimp with symptom of soft shell may lack of nutrients and cannot synthesize enough.  Another problem of shrimp is slow molting.  Some shrimps have black scar caused from fighting each other or scar effected from Taura Syndrome.  It is recommended to apply Formula (Attractant) 25 cc. / 1 kg. of shrimp feed during last 10 days before catching to enhance shrimp molting and reduce wound by generate new hard and glossy shrimp shell.

Formula (Attractant) can strengthen post lavae shrimp and enhance molting and creating hard shell for adult shrimp due to it consists of these 3 following components

1. Formula (Attractant) is consisted of purified chitosan extracted from shrimp shell which is a fundamental process of  shrimp shell generating.

2. Collagen from deep marined fish scales is a major component for shrimp to create tissue and cells.  Normally, in the nature, shrimp obtained collagen from skin and scale of fish it consumes.

3. Amino complex basically is a component of all animals tissue and cell.  All amino are easy dissolvable.  When mixed and coated with shrimp feed and then scatter feed into the pond, amino complex will not be dissolved but still attached tightly with shrimp feed and will be consumed as well when shrimp consumes feed.

How Formula (Attractant) Works ?

Basic function of chitosan is creating chitin directly to shrimp shell to reduce slow process of synthesizing chitin from nature.  Imagined that shrimp shell structure looked like ferro-concrete, chitin in shrimp shell is compared as ferro concrete steel bar and calcium carbonate and minerals attached to chitin structure enhance shrimp shell are compared as ferro concrete.  Shrimp with shell problem of lacking of chitin will have thin and soft shell although it lives in water that is full of calcium, magnesium and carbonate.

On the other hand, collagen amino complex is worked to enhance shrimp tissue and cell and functioned as an initial component to create various kinds of proteins to enhance shrimp growth includings with protein that is natural immune for shrimp to make shrimp healthy.

In summary, at this time, vannamei shrimp farming is facing damages of first month farming, losing a lot of money to prepare new pond for next farming, and shrimp is weak, has soft shell and price of shrimp is decreasing.  Formula (Attractant) is an another option to be successful in shrimp farming and shrimp has good health.  Also, Formula (Attractant) is free from any prohibited substance or antibiotics.  From the trial of using Formula (Attractant) in 200 shrimp ponds, Taura Syndrome is not found in the trial through all farming period.  However, more data from trial needs to be observed continuously.  It is possible theoretically that it may prevent Taura Syndrome.
